Welcome to my web site. I hope it will be a place where you can learn more about me and the things that interest me out in this big old world we call home.
To start off, I thought it might be interesting for you to learn how and why I became a writer. For the first 30 years of my working life, I had a career in the insurance industry, ultimately opening my own agency in 1997. For me, it was the ending of many years of hard work and I was happy working for myself.
Then in 1999, just two years later, I was diagnosed with a rare auto immune disorder, retroperitoneal fibrosis. To be honest, I was lost and scared about what my future might hold. Would I be able to continue running my business and still manage a disease that is difficult at best to manage.
After a major surgery in 2001, I felt my life changing. Besides the pain associated with my disease, I was now starting to suffer from extreme fatigue which seemed to get worse each year. By 2007, the disease had won. I had to sell my business and go out on permanent disability. I was devastated!
It would take 9 months of piddling around my house with nothing to do for the idea of writing to find its way into my head. I saw it more as something to keep me busy rather than a way to earn an income. But once I started my first novel, the bug took hold. I really enjoyed the time I spent writing, and when the book was finished and I actually found a publishing company willing to take it on, well, I thought maybe this writing thing could work out for me after all.
My first book "2Friends 4Ever: A Journey to Reunion", like most first works by a writer, is a bit autobiographical. You'll learn more about the book on the following pages. I must say I've learned a tremendous amount about the publishing industry and marketing my book....more than I ever thought I would. Let's just say this....it's much easier to write a book than to sell one!
So now that you know why I became a writer, I hope this web site will help you keep up with my goings on. Watch the box under my picture for upcoming appearances and events. Keep up with my blog which may cover any subject that hits me that day. And, of course, take advantage of the opportunity to purchase my books at the lowest possible price anywhere, retail or web.
I hope you'll enjoy the rest of my life's journey with me!
